Charting a New Course: Ramya’s Journey from E-Commerce to Digital Engineering

In the dynamic landscape of Information Technology, stories of transformation and perseverance often serve as powerful reminders of the human spirit’s resilience. Ramya’s journey from a non-IT background to becoming a successful Automation Engineer at Indium is a testament to the spirit of exploring new opportunities and being resilient.

With 12 years of professional experience, Ramya initially built her career in the E-commerce industry, where she specialized in people and pricing audits. This role, while rooted in a Functional Non-IT background, provided her with a solid foundation in quality analysis. However, the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic brought personal challenges that forced her to step away from her job. Instead of letting this setback deter her career goals, Ramya used this time to upskill and explore new horizons.

During this period of self-improvement, Ramya embarked on a journey into Information Technology. Transitioning from a non-IT background was no easy feat. She faced significant hurdles, including steep learning curves and financial compromises. The challenge was compounded by the need to adapt to a completely new platform, which required immense dedication and perseverance.

A Turning Point at Indium

It was during these challenging times that Indium extended an opportunity to Ramya. Joining Indium as an intern, Ramya faced the dual challenge of managing financial constraints while navigating the complexities of IT. Her initial days were filled with rigorous learning and adjustments, and there were moments when she contemplated returning to her previous non-IT career due to the financial pressures she faced.

Despite these obstacles, Ramya’s unwavering commitment to learning and her perseverance were instrumental in her successful transition. Over the past 3.5 years, she has thrived as an Automation Engineer at Indium, leveraging her unique blend of experiences to make significant contributions.

Ramya expresses deep gratitude for the guidance and support from her mentors, including KK, Maha, Bhargavi, and all the managers she has worked with.

As Ramya continues to make meaningful contributions as an Automation Engineer, her experience serves as a reminder of the value of perseverance, the importance of supportive mentorship, and the profound impact of a positive and inclusive workplace culture.

We celebrate Ramya’s achievements and look forward to witnessing her continued success and growth at Indium!
