The journey to a fulfilling career in technology is rarely straightforward, and mine has been no exception. What began as an innate curiosity about how applications function turned into a lifelong passion for problem-solving and creating solutions that make life easier. This fascination eventually led me to pursue a career in Product Engineering, where I found my calling in the dynamic world of the MERN stack.
Discovering the MERN Stack
As I delved deeper into the field, I stumbled upon the MERN stack—MongoDB, Express.js, React, and Node.js—a powerful combination for web development. Its versatility and efficiency quickly captivated me. With these technologies, I could build dynamic, robust, and scalable web applications. The joy of watching lines of code transform into something impactful and tangible fuels my passion every single day.
Navigating challenges in tech
My journey, however, hasn’t been without its challenges. Being a woman in the tech industry often feels like navigating uncharted waters. Early in my career, I realized that to make an impact, I needed to embrace confidence and trust in my abilities. Shifting my mindset was key to actively participating in discussions, contributing innovative ideas, and building my place in the tech community.Indium has been a place to express myself, embrace a supportive culture, and grow both personally and professionally. This will be the foundation for my continued journey of learning and excellence.
Advice for aspiring women in tech
Reflecting on my experiences, I want to share some advice for young women aspiring to join the tech field, particularly in app engineering:
1. Believe in yourself: Confidence in your abilities is crucial. Trust that you bring valuable skills and perspectives to the table.
2. Embrace lifelong learning: Technology never stands still. Stay curious and open to new tools, trends, and ideas.
3. Build your network: Surround yourself with mentors, peers, and communities that challenge, support, and inspire you.
